Historic Georgetown, Inc.

Home of the Hamill House Museum and Alpine Hose #2 Museum

Historic Georgetown is a non-profit organization that was incorporated on May 4, 1970. Its mission is the preservation and conservation of the history, architecture, and natural settings of Georgetown, Colorado, and the interpretation of that history in the development of the West and the United States of America.

What Does Membership in Historic Georgetown Mean?

Our members are interested in preserving not only the history of the 19th century American West, but also the small-town character of Georgetown, Colorado. Although our current population is about 1,100 people, Georgetown has become a "home town" to thousands throughout the United States and the world who do not reside here.

Historic Georgetown members provide an essential part of the funding and the encouragement necessary to continue our efforts to maintain and preserve our properties, mining heritage, and open lands. Membership dues provide essential revenue to help with day to day expenses as well as help fund larger projects, such as the restoration and repair of our houses and museums.

Membership Levels and Benefits.

In the past, HGI has offered eight different membership levels, and five additional life membership levels.  Beginning in January 2015, we will begin implementing a new, simplified membership system.  Please look below for an explain of the new membership levels and the benefits that accompany each level.  There are several things that you should keep in mind regarding these new changes:
   1. HGI will no longer be offering life memberships.  If you are already a life member, you will retain that status, but no new life memberships will be added after January 2015.
   2.  All current memberships are valid until their renewal date in 2015.  At that time, members will be asked to switch to one of the levels under the new membership program, and will begin attaining the benefits stated there-in.
