Some things happen by chance, others by choice….

The Georgetown-Silver Plume National Historic Landmark District has had its share of both. The essence of its story, however, is people-those who came to mine the gold and silver placed by chance in the Clear Creek Valley; some who stayed by choice to build communities; and those who live here today and strive to preserve the vestiges of those earlier times. This is the story of their commitment to preserving this legacy of the American West.
