One of Historic Georgetown's greatest assets is Office Manager Ann Izard, whose cheerful, welcoming voice greets callers every day. Ann has been a part of HGI for nine years. Ann was born in Mississippi, where she attended Mississippi State College for Women. She married Bernell, her husband of fifty-three years, right before he joined the Navy. She raised five children while he worked in the oil business, first in Mississippi, then England, then Houston, and finally Denver. Bernell passed away this past December. While in the Denver area, the Izards lived in Arvada. Ann loved to visit Georgetown, and during one visit she learned that HGI needed some secretarial help. Ann volunteered in the office in 1995 and went on the staff payroll in 1996. That year she also moved to Georgetown with her husband, who had retired. Her experience as an office manager for Montaldo's in Cherry Creek has served her well. |
Ann's spare time is occupied by reading. She also works to prepare her semi-weekly radio show for KYGT, the Idaho Springs radio station found at 102.7 FM. The program airs Tuesdays and Fridays from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. For insomniacs, it is also the background to television Channel 10 (Empire's Community Channel) Monday mornings at 2 a.m. and Thursday mornings at 12 a.m. Her motivational program is titled, "An Hour of What Works." Ann has given presentations dealing with tools for life, the ability to be thankful and to have faith, and the power of the human will. One program dealt with using one's voice in a positive manner. Indeed, callers to HGI can attest to the fact that Ann has a wonderful way with her voice. |
