Forty-first annual Christmas Market again entertains, welcomes visitors and residents to Georgetown, builds local business economy |
|
For many years now, Christmas Market has featured an outdoor European marketplace with handcrafted gifts, in addition to Georgetown's charming year-round shopping experience. Beautiful shops showcased Christmas ornaments and decorations, Victorian items for the home, exquisite clothing, and antiques. Christmas Market also hosted the Santa Lucia Children's Processional, celebrating our Scandinavian heritage, and directed by Nancy Johnson of Georgetown. As she has for so many years, Nancy Johnson led the children in their procession and directed their Christmas carols, always enormously enjoyed by our visitors and residents alike. Christmas Market also had holiday entertainment throughout each day at the Georgetown Community Center and Strousse Park, hot roasted chestnuts and holiday treats, horse drawn wagon rides through historic Georgetown courtesy of Cowboy Classics, and appearances by St. Nicholas. Entertainers were enjoyed throughout the Market as visitors sang Christmas carols with beautifully costumed singers, or relaxed with accordion music next to the fire pit in Strousse Park, or watched dancers from all over Colorado at the Georgetown Community Center. |

Though time-consuming and expensive, Christmas Market is hosted each year by Historic Georgetown, Inc., bringing visitors to Georgetown who enjoy our shopping, restaurants, and tours throughout those two December weekends. Many visitors have attended Christmas Market regularly for years, and several Christmas Market vendors have also found it to be such a good experience that they have returned to Georgetown for many years. Visitors came from near and far to the well-attended event this year. The weather was beautiful and sunny for most of Christmas Market, and shop owners have reported that they were pleased with Christmas Market sales. If you'd like to make a contribution to HGI for Christmas Market please call the office at (303)-569-2840, or mail to PO Box 667 Georgetown, CO 80444. |
