Historic Georgetown, Inc., a Colorado non-profit corporation, was created in 1970 to initiate, encourage and integrate efforts to preserve the rich heritage of the Georgetown/Silver Plume National Historic Landmark District. It is a citizen organization whose purpose is to preserve Georgetown's significant historic past, its distinctive architecture and its cultural landscapes, which are tangible reflections of our heritage.

Preserving the rich heritage of the Georgetown/Silver Plume National Historic District takes leadership, education, and the heartfelt work of many volunteers. Historic Georgetown, Inc. (HGI) strives to protect the historic places that helped to shape our past while preserving and interpreting a well-rounded view of the lifestyles of a Victorian-era mining town.

In order to do this we need your help. As a member of Historic Georgetown, you will be part of a team who understands the value of preserving our collective past. Our members are interested in preserving not only the history of the 19th century American West, but also the small-town character of Georgetown, Colorado.

Georgetown, Colorado, population 1,111, is located in the Rocky Mountains, 40 miles west of Denver on I-70. Georgetown has the good fortune to retain over 200 residential and commercial structures from the 19th century. The extent to which the Victorian architecture has been preserved in the historic section of town makes it a living classroom for those who enjoy walking through time and experiencing the visual landscape of another era.
