|
Denver will host this year¹s Annual Conference of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, scheduled for September 30 through October 5. On Friday, October 3, conference attendees will visit Georgetown for an educational field session titled: Georgetown¹s Past, Present, and Future. Participants will glimpse 19th-century Colorado while touring the Lebanon Silver Mine, riding the Georgetown Loop Railroad, and visiting the historic Hotel de Paris, Hamill House, and Georgetown Energy Museums. They will discuss ways of using historic preservation, heritage tourism, affordable housing projects and neighborhood revitalization as economic tools and will learn about the challenges and successes of preserving the historic resources in this former mining community. The National Trust's Preservation Conference is the premier such gathering in the United States, providing outstanding educational sessions, a unique exploration of a nationally important host community and region, and opportunities for community preservationists from throughout the country to share preservation challenges and tactics. |
The theme for the 2003 National Preservation Conference
is "New Frontiers in Preservation", focusing on a number of
key issues that will affect historic preservation
With its diverse resources, strong preservation organizations,
and many success stories, the Denver area is an ideal laboratory to
explore emerging issues and strategies in historic preservation. The
National Preservation Conference, in partnership with the Colorado Historical
Society, will take place at the Westin Tabor Center Hotel in downtown
Denver. For Conference registration or information log on to www.nthpconference.org.
