Report of the Annual Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 10:00 am. Historic Georgetown President, Ronald J. Neely opened the proceedings and introduced Board Members Carol Abbot, Dana Abrahamson, Brad Bailey, Christine Bradley, Bob Gibbs,Liston Leyendecker, Pauline Marshall, Carol Moore, Barb Page, Bob Primus, Ruth Rosenfeld, Pete Werlin, Bill Wilson and Bill Pierson, who is retiring after 16 years on the Board of Directors. He also introduced staff members Ann Izard, Nan V. Rickey and Jeanne Waligroski. Others presented to the audience were: former HGI Board Chairman Don Weber, HGI's Open Lands Consultant Frank Young,; Lee Behrens of the Colorado Historical Society; County Commissioners Joanne Sorensen; Coralue Anderson; Cindy Neely, HDPLC; and Buff and Marylou Rutherford, owners and operators of Rutherford's Carriage Service, who retired this year. Annual Chairman's Report - Chairman of the Board Mary Riddle Clark opened her remarks by telling the audience that today we are going to talk about dreams and visions…visions of the past and of the future. Presentation of the Audit - President Ronald J. Neely presented some highlights from the audit for fiscal year 1999-2000. He told the audience that revenues were up over last year and expenses were down. He went on to report that there have been policy changes made in regard to tours, retail offerings in the gift shops and recruitment and retention of members. In regard to special events, ticket sales for the July 1999 House Tour were up over the 1997 tour. Cell site rentals generated $95,000.Curator's Report - Curator Nan V. Abrahamson attends her
first annual meeting.Election of Officers - Ron Neely presented the 2000 nominees to the Board of Directors. They were: Dana Abrahamson, Carol Curran, Dawn Janov, Liston Leyendecker, Barbara Page, Ruth Rosenfeld, Elizabeth Schlosser and Salley Smith. Bob Gibbs MOVED to accept the slate of nominees and Brad Bailey SECONDED the motion. The motion PASSED unopposed.
Presentation of Awards - In keeping with the theme of her address "dreams and visions," Board Chairman Mary Riddle Clark presented HGI President Ron Neely with a special award for his dedication and service to HGI and historic preservation in the District. A beautifully framed set of photos of HGI properties before they were restored was given to Ron illustrating his vision of what could be. The book, "Holding On - Dreamers and Visionaries, Eccentrics and Other American Heroes," by David Isay and Harvey Wang, was signed by all who were present at the meeting and presented to Ron as well.
The 2000 Annual Meeting of Historic Georgetown, Inc., adjourned at 11:20 am. Members gathered afterwards for a box lunch and tour of Silverdale led by County Archivist, Christine Bradley and HGI Open Lands Consultant, Frank Young.
