The way we were in
the Depression years
The north side of Alpine Street (now 6th Street) during the Depression years. The view is toward the northwest from the center of the street. The building at hear right is part of the original Cushman Block, now the home of Buckskin Leather. The small one-story building to the left was destroed years ago. The site is now King's Lane. At far left, down the street at the intersection with Rose Street, is the Fish Block, where the Sophie Gally show is located today.
The picture is part of the Library of Congress Depression Photo Series. More views of Georgetown in the 1930's.
