Hamill Park development continues

By Dana Abrahamson

Historic Georgetown will break ground on the Hamill Park support building early in the spring of 2006, thanks to the generous support of an anonymous donor. Planning is well underway for the structure, which will house public restrooms, a catering facility/
small meeting space, and storage for lawn-maintenance equipment. The building will be located on the north side of the Hamill Park property, immediately adjacent to the courthouse parking lot.

In conjunction with the Town of Georgetown's Ronald J. Neely Day of August 31, 2005, Historic Georgetown renamed the section of road running through Hamill Park.

Park development continues: Long Hoeft Architects designed the facilities building for Hamill Park.

This small section of formerly vacated Brownell Street is now known as Neely Lane.

With the addition of the building and the newly renamed Neely Lane, work continues on the Park. Donor bricks and blocks on the donor wall are still available, and many other opportunities to make your mark on Hamill Park still exist. Please contact the HGI office if you'd like to make a donation, large or small, to the Hamill Park project.
