How Does Historic Georgetown Work? The property, funds, policies and affairs of Historic Georgetown are administered by a 20 member volunteer Board of Directors. A full-time staff provides day to day management. Seasonal staff and volunteers serve as guides and maintenance personnel. The operating and maintenance budget of Historic Georgetown and it's properties averages $135,000 annually. Income is from membership dues, museum admissions, special events, shop sales, grants and donations. Less than 5% of the operating budget comes from government sources. We invite you to join us in our efforts to preserve one of a quickly vanishing number of historic towns in the Rocky Mountain West. What Does Membership in Historic Georgetown Mean? Our members are interested in preserving not only the history of the 19th century American West, but the small-town character of Georgetown, Colorado as well. It has become a "home town" to thousands throughout the United States and the world who do not reside here. (The current population is about 900 people.) HGI members provide an essential part of the funding and the encouragement necessary to continue our efforts to maintain and preserve our properties, buildings and open lands. As a member, you will receive our newsletter, invitations to special events, free admission to the Hamill House Museum and to the Hotel de Paris Museum (a property of the National Society of Colonial Dames in America), also in Georgetown, and a 20% discount at the Museum Shop. But most of all, your membership dues will assist us in continuing our efforts in the preservation and restoration of Victorian buildings and open lands in the Georgetown/Silver Plume National Historic District. or Email membership@historicgeorgetown.org for more information. |
