Hamill House Parlor

The Parlor was the formal living room where the Hamills welcomed guests to their home. The woodwork (black walnut), fireplaces, lighting fixtures, ceiling and wallpapers throughout the house, are all original. The carpet and draperies are reproductions of patterns and colors that would have been available in 1879.

The wallpaper in the Parlor is flocked with camel's hair. Red silk velvet seating pieces are original but have been reupholstered as they were when the Hamill's lived here. A multiseat conversation chair in the center of the room is not original but is a Renaissance Revival style and was a popular chair in Victorian parlors. A square grand piano is similar to the piano originally in the Parlor.
