THIRD GENERATION

111. MARY ANNE HAMILL was born in 182011, and was christened at St. Mary the Virgin Church, in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England 16 July, 1822. It is uncertain why or when Mary Anne came to America. A Mary Ann Hamill was listed on the 1850 US Census in Philadelphia. She lived with her sister, "Fannie", Mrs. Joseph W. Watson, in Georgetown, Colorado at the time of the census in 1870. The Watsons went to Salt Lake City, Utah about 1871. After that, Mary Anne lived with her brother, William Arthur Hamill and his family in Georgetown. Nothing further is known about her until her death. She apparently lived at her brother's "Watson Ranch" north of Riverside Cemetery in Adams County, Colorado for some time12. The 1880 census does not list Mary Anne with either of the above families at that time. Mary Anne Hamill apparently remained unmarried until she died in Denver, 22 November, 1887. She was buried with the Hamill family at Riverside Cemetery, lot 178, block 13, in Denver, 3 December, 1887.

112. ELIZA HAMILL was born in Liverpool, Lancashire, England in 1823. She married THOMAS R. SEARLE, born in England in 1821. They came to America and lived in Philadelphia at the time of the 1860 census13. There was no evidence of children. Thomas' sister, JANE E. SEARLE lived with them. She was born in England about 1819. Thomas Searle was a business associate14 of both William Arthur Hamill and Joseph Warrington Watson. When the Searles moved to Colorado is unknown. They lived in Denver at the 1880 census, where Thomas was listed as a crippled or maimed farmer. They both lived in Denver at the times of their deaths. Eliza died, date unknown, in Denver and was buried in the Hamill family plot, lot 177, block 13 at Riverside Cemetery in Denver. Thomas R. Searle was buried in the Watson family plot, lot 28, block 1, at Riverside Cemetery on 10 April, 1886. His sister, Jane E. Searle was also buried with the Watson family, 20 September, 1892. She was seventy-three.

113. THOMAS HAMILL was christened at St. Peter's in Liverpool, 22 October, 1827. No more is yet known of him. A twenty year old THOMAS HAMILL arrived in America from Liverpool aboard the "Colonist" on 19 October, 1848. A Thomas Hamill was listed on the 1850 Census for Philadelphia.

James had provided medical attendance, serving with Louisiana Volunteers at Tampico (Altamira), Mexico from 26 October, 1847 until 26 June, 1848. He was discharged at New Orleans on 5 July, 1848. Neither The National Personnel Records Center nor the National Archives and Records Administration were able to provide any records in 1995. Nothing further is yet known of him. A James Hamill was listed on the 1850 Census for Philadelphia.

1163. WALKER M. TOMLINSON (JR.?)
1164. (Unidentified) TOMLINSON

On 24 February, 1859 he married PRISCILLA LEEDOM McKEE. They were married by Reverend Kingston Goddard of Episcopal Church of the Atonement, at her parents residence, 1432 Poplar Street, Philadelphia. Priscilla was born in Newark, New Jersey, 20 September 1836, a daughter of Hockley Cloyd McKee and Elizabeth Ballinger Atkinson. William served as First Lieutenant and Adjutant, 156th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, from his commission 23 October, 1862, mustered December, 1862 at Philadelphia for three years. He was subsequently mustered out, at Ft. Delaware, Delaware, 27 February, 1863 as a surplus officer. William moved to Colorado in July, 1865. Priscilla followed in 1867.
