A. PETER HERZOG (or HERTZOG) was born circa 1700, in Germany (Rhenish Prussia), Holland, or New York. He married ANNA MARGARETHA KUNTZE (KONES, KOONCE or COONS), a daughter of Nicholas and Catherine Kuntze. Catherine was born in 1712. They had a son:
A2. NICHOLAS HERZOG (HERTZOG, HARTSOCK)
Peter died 11 April, 1763 in Frederick County, Maryland. Anna died 27 August, 1783, in Frederick County, Maryland.

A2. NICHOLAS HERZOG (HERTZOG, HARTSOCK) was christened 20 April, 1735, at the First Reformed Church in Raritan (now Somerville), New Jersey. He married a woman named CATHERINE ELIZABETH. They had a son:
A2B. JOHN HARTSOCK
Nicholas died 4 April, 1821, in Frederick County, Maryland. Catherine died 27 September, 1788.

A2B. JOHN HARTSOCK was born in 1760. He married ELIZABETH HARDING, a daughter of John Harding of Frederick County, Maryland, of Welsh descent. They had a son:
A2B1. GEORGE HARTSOCK
John died before 1800.

A2B1. GEORGE HARTSOCK was born 21 April, 1781 in Frederick County, Maryland. He married ELIZABETH CRAMER, 23 April, 1807 in Frederick County, Maryland. She was a daughter of Wilhelm Kraemer and Anna Bayer, born 3 December, 1787, in Frederick County, Maryland. They had a son:
A2B1G. SAMUEL HARTSOCK
George died 1 July, 1862 in Greene County, Ohio. He was buried in the Bellbrook Cemetery. Elizabeth died 22 August, 1868 in Greene County, Ohio. She was buried at Bellbrook with her husband.

A2B1G SAMUEL HARTSOCK was born on John Archer's farm, Greene County, Ohio, 19 December, 1823. He married, 6 January, 1849, MARY WELLER, a daughter of John Weller and Elizabeth Hendricks, both born in New Jersey. Mary was born in Ohio, 3 April, 1828. Samuel and Mary had a son:
A2B1G5 PERRY WILLIAM HARTSOCK
Samuel died 28 March, 1894, on a family farm near Middle Run, Sugar Creek Township, Greene County, Ohio. He was buried in Bellbrook Cemetery. Mary died 14 March, 1911 in Sugar Creek Township, Greene County, Ohio of "Dilatation of Heart" following two months of "dropsy". She too was buried at Bellbrook Cemetery.

A2B1G5 PERRY WILLIAM HARTSOCK was born 15 October, 1865 at Middle Run, Sugar Creek Township, Greene County, Ohio. He first married LUVILLA (or LUVILLIE) MAGRUDER HOBLIT. She and her twin, Valentine Monterville Hoblit were born in Warren County, Ohio, 19 July, 1863, children of William H. Hoblit and Rebecca M. Thomas. Perry and Luvilla had a son:
JESSE VALENTINE HARTSOCK
Luvilla apparently died in childbirth. Later Perry married AUGUSTA E. CLEVENGER, a daughter of Stratton Riley Clevenger51 and Ruth Elizabeth Thomas, both born in Ohio. Augusta was born 12 November, 1865 at Middle Run, Sugar Creek Township, Greene County, Ohio52. They had a daughter:
A2B1G5B ETHEL HARTSOCK
Augusta died of a cerebral hemorrhage, 2 March, 1928 near Waynesville, Ohio. She was buried at Middle Run Cemetery, Sugar Creek Township, Greene County, Ohio. Perry died 10 March, 1943 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio. He too was buried at Middle Run Cemetery.

A2B1G5B ETHEL HARTSOCK was born in Wayne Township, Warren County, Ohio, 20 December, 1887. She married JESSE FRANCIS BAKER, a son of Walter John Baker and Anna Plank, 12 December, 1906. Ethel and Jesse had four children:

A2B1G5B2 ADA GWENDOLYN BAKER
A2B1G5B3 MARY MARGUERITE BAKER
A2B1G5B4 JAMES EARL BAKER
Ethel died in Denver 25 September, 1965. She was buried at Chappell Hill Cemetery. For further data see HENRY HAMILL, 11754.

N. B. per Ada Gwendolyn (Baker) Hamill, 5 October, 1989: "Aunt Lucile died in Dayton, Ohio, 4 October, 1989."
